Parsa authority inks agreement with dry port struggle committee

Published Date : October 7, 2026

Birgunj, Oct 7: A four-point agreement has been signed between the district administration and the group who had been staging a sit-in demanding compensation for land and physical structures acquired for the construction of Birgunj Dry Port at Sirsiya.

The agreement was signed at the District Administration Office (DAO), Parsa on Wednesday. As per the agreement, the Land Administration Office, Parsa will urgently follow-up with the authorities concerned regarding the registration and distribution of land ownership certificates.

Locals have complained that irrespective of decision made nearly a year back, the land has not yet been registered or issued with ownership certificates. Lack of registration has resulted in utter difficulty in providing compensation for the land and structures built on it. Similarly, further process will be made to address Committee’s concerns.

The agreement was signed by chief district officer Bhola Dahal and Struggle Committee’s chair Ashok Kumar Chaudhary.

The Committee had staged a sit-in at the main gate of the dry port, asserting that despite their frequent visits, concern and calls, negotiations and agreements with the district administration office were elusive. —-
