Bagmati province to compete in all 32 games of 10th National Games

Hetauda, Oct 8: Bagmati Province is going to participate in all 32 sports included in the 10th National Games.

Deepak Lama, Secretary of the Provincial Sports Development Council, said that a total of 782 people, including 656 athletes from Bagmati, will participate in the competition. Letters have been sent to all 13 districts of the province and the relevant sports associations for preparation and athlete selection. He said the goal is to complete the selection process for all games by November 1.

Out of a total of 32 games, players will be selected from the district level in 12 games, while the remaining games will have open selection. The Provincial Sports Development Council stated that in the open selection, players of the relevant games from 13 districts of the province can participate.

Secretary Lama mentioned that the recently concluded 3rd Bagmati Provincial Sports Competition was also taken as preparation for the 10th National Games.

He said that the performance of the athletes in that competition is also counted for the selection process. Preparation is being made to provide special training through closed training programme with the goal of achieving excellent results in the 10th National Games.

The Council has stated that along with the player’s physical fitness, priority will be given to sports psychology, nutrition, and regular training. Bagmati Province has secured a fund of 56 million rupees to participate in the competition.

The provincial government has also made arrangements to provide cash prizes to athletes who win medals in the National Games. The council said that the provincial government has prepared a procedure to give Rs 100,000 to gold medal winners, Rs 75,000 to silver medal winners, and Rs 50,000 to bronze medal winners. —
