Kathmandu, Nov 2: The Nepali U-19 women’s cricket team has left here for China to compete in the Belt and Road U-19 Series, scheduled for November 3-8. The Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) organized a farewell programme in Kathmandu today and wished the 15-member squad a success in the international competition.
Addressing the programme, CAN Vice President Roshan Singh said that the series would provide valuable match experience and help Nepal prepare for next year’s ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
Stating that the team had received adequate time for preparation for the match, he urged the players to demonstrate maturity and composure on the pitch. Likewise, Head Coach Mahesh Prasad Rijal said the tour would allow players to gain international exposure, assess their strengths and work on areas needing improvement.
He viewed that the competition would provide the team with an opportunity to evaluate its overall performance ahead of future tournaments.
Similarly, team captain Sony Pakhrin shared that the players were well prepared and confident of delivering a strong performance. According to the CAN, Nepal will compete against host China, Hong Kong and Thailand in the tournament, facing each of the three teams. —
