Kathmandu, Nov 4: President Ramchandra Paudel has said that the proper use of public resources, zero tolerance for corruption, the rule of law, and ethical conduct are the foundations of good governance.

The Head of the State expressed this view today while inaugurating the newly constructed administrative building of Dakshinkali Municipality.

He said, “Proper use of public resources, zero tolerance for corruption, rule of law, and ethical conduct are the foundations of good governance. This is also the purpose of the sacrifices and efforts made by the Nepali people to bring about a federal democratic republic.”

President Paudel expressed the confidence that governments at all three tiers would be serious about meeting the expectations people have set.

He urged elected representatives and civil service employees to see public office and responsibilities not as personal benefits or rights, but as opportunities and duties to serve the people.

“An administrative building is not just a physical structure; it is the centre of trust where people receive services, the local pillar of democratic governance, and a symbol of a public institution that addresses citizens’ aspirations,” President Paudel said.

Noting that the services provided from the building should be fast, efficient, transparent, accountable, and citizen-friendly, the he said just as the administrative building is modern, the administrative work style also needs to be modern, tech-friendly, transparent, and result-oriented.

“Maximizing the use of information technology, archives management, digital services, and making the complaint hearing system effective is the need of the hour,” President Paudel added.

He also urged paying attention to the fact that there is plenty of potential to develop Dakshinkali as an attractive destination for tourism based on religion, nature, culture, and local products. —
