ACC Men’s U16 Cup: Nepal enters final defeating Malaysia by nine wickets

Kathmandu, July 3: Nepal has entered the final of ACC Men’s U-16 East Zone Cup defeating Malaysia by nine wickets.

In the semi-final match held at Selangor Turf Club, Malaysia, today, Nepal completed 91-run victory target by losing one wicket at 11.4 overs. 

For Nepal’s victory, Parimarjan Yadav contributed the highest 59 runs which included five boundaries and five sixes.  Similarly, Shiwansh Bajgain scored 23 runs (not out).

For Malaysia, Nagin Sathnakumaran took one wicket.

Earlier, elected to bat first after losing the toss, Malaysia was limited to 90 runs by losing all wickets at 43.1 overs. 

Malaysia’s Muhammad Fathul Fatri gathered the highest 38 runs while Captain Deeaz Patro contributed 10 runs. Other players except them could not made double digit runs.

Nepal’s Abhay Yadav took four wickets while Shubham Khanal three wickets.   Similarly, Capatain Bipin Prasad Khanal and Sachin Bhatta took one wicket each.

With today’s victory, Nepal would face the second semi-final winner team for the title. Hong Kong and Singapore are playing for second semi-final match.

Nepal as the winner of Group ‘A’ and Malaysia as runner-up team of ‘Group ‘B’ had reached for semi-final. Earlier, Nepal had won all four matches it played under the group stage. It had defeated Singapore, Japan, Indonesia and Bhutwan.

Nepal had clinched the title of last year’s series by defeating Malaysia.

15-bed Khandbari municipal hospital comes into operation

Khandbari (Sankhuwasabha), July 3: A 15-bed Khandbari Municipal Hospital has come into operation at Manebhanjyang of Khandbari municipality-3.

The municipality implemented ‘one local-level, one hospital’ policy by upgrading Pama health post to 15-bed hospital. 

The hospital has started providing its services from Wednesday. The municipal hospital building was constructed at a cost of Rs 37.35 million.

Former Minister for Health of Koshi Province, Rajendra Karki, Mayor Mahesh Thapaliya and Chief District Officer Divya Raj Pokharel, among others inaugurated the hospital.

On the occasion, Former Health Minister Karki expressed commitment to support necessary medical equipment. 

Similarly, Mayor Thapaliya shared that the hospital would provide health services by appointing doctors including medical officer from the beginning of coming fiscal year.

Road widening activities along Araniko highway to resume after monsoon

Kavrepalanchowk, July 3: Activities for the road expansion at Sanga-Dhulikhel road section along Araniko Highway have been stopped due to monsoon. The activities would be resumed once the monsoon exit from the country, according to Suryabinayak-Dhulikhel. Dhulikhel-Sindhuli-Bardibas road project.

However, road expansion task at Poolbazaar area at the road section has been obstructed for the past four months due to disruption of the locals. The road expansion task has been stopped at around 200 meters area due to some reservation of locals.

Project Engineer Bishnu Prasad Khanal said though discussion was held among stakeholders including people’s representatives at the municipality and locals time and again, but in vain.

Various activities including removing houses and huts, removing high-tension pole, erecting other electricity poles  have been completely disrupted due to obstruction of locals.

Meanwhile, six-lane road expansion task from Suryabinayak of Bhaktapur to Dhulikhel of Kavrepalanchowk along Araniko highway would not going to be completed on time. Only around six months is left for the termination of the deadline.

A target was set to complete the 16-kilometer road within 36 months. The road expansion task was started from Poush 24, 2979 BS.  The contract was announced by dividing the 16-kilometer road – Suryabinayak to Sanga, Sanga to Dhulikhel, for the expansion of the highway.

According to the project, only around 50 per cent construction works have completed so far.

Senior Divisional Engineer and Information Officer of the Project, Sajana Adhikari, said around 65 per cent physical progress would be achieved till the deadline and it was delayed due to various reasons including locals obstruction, as well as other circumstances.

52 people including six Chinese arrested for operating dating app illegally

Kathmandu, July 3: Police have arrested 52 people including six Chinese for their connection in crypto currency transaction and operating dating app illegally and made them public.

A team deployed from Central Investigation Bureau nabbed them at a time when they were operating the call centre and Meto dating app illegally after registering the ‘Social Software Development Company on a rented house at Lalitpur Metropolitan City-4.

The company has rented a house at Chagal of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-13 as its branch from where they were conducting such illegal activities, according to CIB.

The CIB team had seized around Rs 1.4 million, three laptops and 54 mobile sets.  Police have started investigation into the case.


PM Oli visits Real Madrid’s Football Club

Madrid (Spain), July 3: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has visited Santiago Bernabeu Stadium of the world’s famous football club, Real Madrid, located at Madrid of Spain today.

International Director of the Club, Petro Martin de Miguel, welcomed the Prime Minister at the Stadium. Saying he is a fan of Real Madrid, PM Oli shared that he is very happy seeing such modern and well-equipped stadium.

On the occasion, International Director Miguel gifted a t-shirt of the Club to Prime Minister and encouraged Nepali students to participate and get admission in Club’s training.

Prime Minister, who is now in Madrid after participating in the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development of the United Nations at Seville of Spain, has participated in various programmes in Madrid.

Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Minister for Water Supply, Pradeep Yadav, Secretary at the Foreign Ministry, Amrit Bahadur Rai, Nepali Ambassador to Spain, Shanil Nepal, among others were present on the occasion.
