Published Date : September 5, 2025

Kathmandu, Sept 5: Eminent poet Dr. Nava Raj  Lamsal’s fourth epic ‘Kalpa’ has been released today.

At a programme organized by Shikha Books in the capital today, Nepali Congress (NC) general secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, lawmakers Bidhya Bhattarai, Sudan Kirati and Manish Jha, and literary journalist Raj Kumar Baniya jointly launched the epic.

Saying that poet Lamsal has established his creative competition was is with himself in the epic, general secretary Thapa noted that the epic has incorporated multi-dimensional themes such as history, religion, culture and humanity.

He expressed the commitment to create debate and interaction about the epic ‘Kalpa’ in the library established at the NC central office. The epic has reflected the relations persisting among the people, nature and culture, Thapa highlighted.

‘Kalpa’ is one among the six organs of the Veda, he said, adding the literary piece has elucidated the truth that the present day students are not offered with real knowledge despite compelling them to carry huge load of books.

Thapa expressed the confidence that the literary writing would inspire for improvement at a time when the social ideals are on the ebb with the erosion of originality.

Lawmaker Kirati urged the epic writer Lamsal to author an epic about the cultures of Chepang, Bankariya and Raute. Lawmaker Jha said the epic was released in a way to impart lessons when the culture and nature were being ruined due to greed.

He asked to create debate whether or not there is freedom of thinking when discussion is being hovered around freedom of expression. The epic Kalpa has come up with new noble thoughts which he said has presented in-depth information about the country, religion and culture.

Literary writer Lamsal said he experienced a sense of exaltation while launching his fourth epic ‘Kalpa’.  Dr. Lamsal already has three epics – Karna, Dhara and Agni in his credit. His ‘Agni’ was awarded with prestigious Madan Puruskar. —
