19 Injured in Road Accident in Jhapa

Birtamod, Oct 28: At least 19 passengers were injured in a road accident that occurred this morning at Maidhar in Shivasatakshi Municipality-10, Jhapa district, police said.

According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, a passenger bus (registration no. Pra 1-01-001 Kha 4209) skidded off the road along the East–West Highway after losing control.

District Police Spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khagendra Bahadur Khadka said the injured passengers were taken to Birta City Hospital in Birtamod for treatment.

The bus, en route to Jhapa from Manthali in Ramechhap district, was carrying a total of 25 passengers.

Among the injured are Raju Bhujel, 39, Ichha Limbu, 17, Rabilal Ganesh, 20, Parina Ganesh, 21, Simitra Khadka Karki, 36, and her nine-year-old son, Alon Karki, all from Jhapa district.

Similarly, Ambar Bahadur Budhathoki, 65, Bhim Prasad Puri, 35, Mithu Khatri, 65, and eight-year-old Anu Shrestha from Ramechhap were also injured.

Other injured passengers include Pradip Bahadur Basnet, 30, and Kumar Basyal, 28, of Dolakha district, as well as Bhema Rajbansi, Ram Kumar Shrestha and his son Ritham Shrestha, Purna Bahadur Nepali, Shital Nepali, Avisekh Rajbansi, and Shyamlal Kisku of Jhapa district.

Police said the accident occurred when the bus was speeding and lost control. An investigation into the incident is underway. #nepal #accident
