Kathmandu, March 9: A total of eight million 382 thousand and 984 votes have been counted so far under the proportional representation of House of Representatives election held on March 5.
As per the latest details received from the Election Commission, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has received the highest four million 50 thousand and 753 votes.
Similarly, the Nepali Congress secured one million 361 thousand and 431 votes while the CPN (UML) got one million 151 thousand and 253 votes, the Nepali Communist Party 592,410 votes, Shram Sanskriti Party 292,063 and Rastriya Prajatantra Party 277,013 votes.
The counting of votes is underway.

08- Dr Wagle’s journey from policy to politics
Damauli (Tanahu), March 9: Dr Swarnim Wagle is a well-known figure in Nepal’s public policy and economy. Economist, and policy and planning expert Dr Wagle has embarked on active politics for some years.
He secured victory for the second time from Tanahu constituency no 1 in the recent House of Representatives election. Dr Wagle secured 38,040 votes this time, while he had collected 34,911 votes in the by-election three years back.
Wagle was born in a village of Gorkha district. He was keenly interested in study since his childhood. He pursued his university study abroad and did PhD in economics.
In addition to his study of economics, Dr Wagle continued research on development economy, public policy and economic reform, earning international reputation. He has significant work experience in various international institutions after university study. Development, poverty alleviation and economic policy were his areas when he served in the UN agencies.
Following his return to the country, Dr Wagle worked as Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission, contributing to Nepal’s perspective plan on development, economic reform and good governance.
As he realized the urgency of implementing policies and reform works through political correction, he began his political journey for leadership. Dr Wagle joined active politics by joining the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). His political entry has been observed as shift from ‘technical leadership to political leadership.’
Elected from constituency no 1 of Tahanu district, Dr Wagle has mentioned development, good governance, employment and economic reform as his major agenda. While wooing voters before election, he reminded new thoughts and result-oriented politics for meaningful change in the country.
Dr Wagle’s entry is presently known as ‘leadership with policy competence’ in Nepali politics. His experience and expertise in economy and development policy is expected to deliver well through his parliamentary practice.

09- Vice-Chair Gole decides to utilize salary, allowance for social work
Lalitpur, March 9: Vice-Chairperson of Mahankal rural municipality in the district, Dolma Maya Gole, has announced that she would utilize her salary and allowance for social works.
Issuing a message on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, Gole shared that her monthly salary and allowance now onwards would be spent for senior citizens, disabled persons, women, farmers, teachers, youths and health volunteers as well as other communities as support.
Even the vehicle she uses would be mobilized for easing movement of senior citizens, disabled persons and other needy ones visiting the municipality and ward offices, according to her.
Gole shared, “Specially the senior citizens who have been facing difficulties to reach bank to draw allowance would benefit from the vehicle service. The needy people can receive vehicle service after coordinating with women and children section at the rural municipality office.”
She showed readiness to ensure such facility to the senior citizens. The Vice Chairperson viewed she took such decision as per the commitment towards people’s service and social responsibility.

10- UML Vice-Chair appeals for change in policy, leadership, style
Kathmandu, March 9: Vice-Chairman of the CPN UML and former finance minister, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, has appealed to party rank and file to restructure party policy, leadership, organization and work style as per people’s expectation.
After facing sheer defeat in the House of Representatives election from Rupandehi constituency no 2, Vice-Chairman Paudel issued a statement and urged the party for serious review of past weaknesses and reform from within that suits public aspiration.
“People’s mandate is the beauty of democracy. I happily accept the verdict given by the voters in my constituency,” he said, extending best wishes to the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate who defeated him in the election. Paudel also hoped the RSP candidate winning the election would work for Rupandehi’s journey for development and prosperity.
“I honour all voters who cast ballots to UML, Nepali Congress, RSP, Nepali Communist Party and others,” he mentioned.

11- 15 candidates lose deposits in Kanchanpur-2
Kanchanpur, March 9: Out of 19 candidates for the House of Representatives (HoR) election in Kanchanpur constituency-2, 15 have lost their deposits after failing to secure minimum votes.
According to Election Officer Prkash Bahadur Bhandari, the HoR Elections Act-2074 BS mandates the confiscation of deposits of an election candidate who fails to secure 10 percent of the total valid votes. As per the provision, 11 candidates from various political parties and four independent have lost their deposits.
They are Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)’s Tirtha Raj Chautaut (1,993), Janamat Party’s Ramchandra Bhatta (125), Sitaram Rana (72) of Nepal Workers and Peasants’ Party ( 72), Ram Bahadur Karki of Rastriya Janamorcha (195), Dharmananda Joshi (195) of Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party (195), Khadak Tamrakar (143) of Samyukta Nagarik Party, Tej Bahadur Badawal (18) of Miteri Party Nepal, and Lokendra Bahadur BK (143) of Nepal Communist Party(Maoist).
Likewise, Yogendra Bahadur Saud (93) of Ujyalo Party Nepal, Premawati Rana ( 560) of Nagarik Unmukti Party Nepal, Jaggu Chaudhary (37) of Aam Janata Party, independent candidates Birendra Rana (81), Bhanubhakta Bohara ( 26), Siddharaj Joshi(19), Harish Bahadur Bhatta (44) have also lost the deposits.
Deepak Raj Bohora of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected with 33,952 votes while his nearest competitor Narayan Prasad Saud secured 10,827 followed by CPN (UML) candidate Bachan Bahadur Singh with 6,418 votes. Nepali Communist Party (NCP) candidate Madhav Pant got 6,337.
Out of 65,347 votes cast here, 4,230 were declared invalid, according to the Election Officer’s Office.

12- Good governance, employment top priorities: RSP leader Khanal
Kathmandu, March 9: Leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and newly elected member of the House of Representatives from Kathmandu-6, Shishir Khanal, has reminded that good governance, employment creation and enterprising Nepal are priorities of his party.
Speaking in a programme organised by Tarakeshwor municipality-9 of Kathmandu-6 today, he mentioned that he would work by joining hands with local levels for solving people’s problem because RSP has not its government at local levels.
Also the former Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Khanal opined that Kathamndu-6 has problem of drinking water, adding he would resolve the problems by holding discussion and establishing close contact with people.
He would continuously raise the issues of public concerns in the parliament, Khanal underlined. People have trusted RSP to transform the country for five years, the newly elected member of parliament made it clear clarified that they would not let this campaign go in vain.

13- Vote count of 161 constituencies over, RSP top with 124 victories
Kathmandu, March 9: The Election Commission has updated that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) secured victory in 124 constituencies, standing atop the vote count following the March 5 House of Representatives election.
The vote count updated at 1:00 pm showed the Nepali Congress is in the second spot with a huge margin- 17 victories, while it is trailed by CPN UML with 8 victories. The RSP, NC and UML candidates are leading in one constituency each.
The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) secured seven victories, while it is trailed by Shram Shanskriti Party with 3 victories. The Rastriya Prajantantra Party (RPP) and an independent candidate won the election with one seat each.
Under the proportional representation vote count which is also going on, RSP has topped with over 4.1 million votes, while it is followed by NC with over 1.3 million votes, UML with over 1.1 million votes, NCP with over 614 thousand votes and Shram Sanskriti Party with over 300 votes.

14- Newly elected National Assembly members take oath
Kathmandu, March 9: The newly elected members of the National Assembly (NA), upper house of federal parliament, have taken oath today.
NA Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal administered the oath to 17 out of 18 NA members amidst a ceremony. They were elected on January 25 this year.
In the 59-seat NA, the members have six year’s term. However, one-thirds of them get their terms expired each two year as per constitution.
The newly elected NA members taking oath today are Khamma Bahadur Khati, Gita Devkota, Chandra Bahadur KC, Jagat Timalsina, Dharmendra Paswan, Prem Prasad Dangal, Mahanth Thakur, Ranjit Karn, Ram Kumari Jhankri, Rekha Kumari Jha, Roshani Meche, Lalit Jung Shahi, Lila Kumari Bhandari, Basudev Ghimire, Samjhana Devkota, Sunil Bahadur Thapa and Somnath Portel.
Mina Singh Rakhal was absent in the oath-taking today.

15- Vote count: RSP continues leading with wide margin in PR as well
Kathmandu, March 9: The counting of votes cast under the proportional representation (PR) system for the House of Representatives (HoR) elections is underway.
As of 3:00 pm today, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), which has so far won 124 seats, is also leading in the PR vote count with very wide margin.
Out total 908,400 votes counted so far, the party has secured 4390,035 votes. Similarly, the Nepali Congress (NC) has achieved 1470,796 while the CPN (UML) garnered 1231,789 and the Nepali Communist Party got 656,941. The Shram Sanskriti Party has collected 313,489 and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party achieved 294,355 votes.
As per the EC updates, the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal secured 140,237 votes, the Rastriya Pariwartan Party 137,245, the Janamat Party 62,460 and the Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal, Janata Samajbadi Party and the Nagarik Unmukti Party has each achieved 50,051 votes.
Towards the direct electoral counts, the NC has been elected in 17 seats, UML in seven, NCP in seven, Shram Sanskriti in three, RPP and independent candidate one each.
The vote counts showed the RSP, NC and UML are taking lead in a one constituency each: RSP in Gorkha-1, NC in Ilam- 1, and the UML in Sankhuwasabha-1.

16- Two dozens of under-35 candidates defeat old guards in HoR election

Kathmandu, March 9: The vote count under the March 5 House of Representatives election is in a final stage now. The election held in the background of Gen Z movement has witnessed overwhelming votes for the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
Reflecting the spirit of Gen Z against the traditional parties, many youths under 35-year were able to hold sway and defeat the old guards. It has led to a vital entry of youths to parliament, a supreme forum of law making.
Total 20 RSP candidates under 35-year got victory in the HoR election held on March 5. Similarly, Nepali Congress, Shram Sanskriti Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party each had one such candidate winning the election.
Sobita Gautam, 30, was elected from Chitwan-3, collecting 59,277 votes. She defeated Nepali Communist Party’s Renu Dahal with the margin of over 20,000 votes. It is second time Sobita Gautam got elected to HoR member. She had earlier got victory from constituency-2 of Kathmandu. She is a law graduate.
Sulav Kharel is another prominent under-35 candidate defeating veteran UML leader Bishnu Paudel from Rupandehi-2. Kharel routed Paudel by collecting 56,550 votes. Kharel is also a law graduate from Nepal Law Campus. He is 26-year-old.
Rubina Acharya comes in line to defeat the old guard, Dr Shekhar Koirala of the Nepali Congress, in Morang-6. The under-35 candidate of RSP got 55,513 votes limiting her rival at 12,850 votes.
RSP’s Badan Kumar Bhandari from Kavrepalanchowk-2 was elected with 53,344 votes while his nearest contender Madhu Prasad Acharya of NC secured 17,868. The 33-year-old Bhandari, an e-commerce entrepreneur and a media worker, holds a Bachelor degree.
Nisha Dangi won the election from Jhapa-1, representing RSP. The 29-year-old was the RSP lawmakers from the party in the previous HoR. She secured 45,680 votes against NC candidate Keshab Raj Pandey. Pandey had 10,550. Dangi who was born in Bhadrapur municipality of Jhapa holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism from the Tribhuvan University.
Another RSP candidate Manish Khanal, 26, was elected from Nawalpur-2 with 41,347 votes against CPN (UML) candidate Til Bahadur Mahat Chhetri. The UML candidate obtained 15,755 votes. He is a law graduate from Nepal Law Campus.
Bablu Gupta is another youth candidate winning the election from RSP. The 28-year-old emerged victorious from Siraha-1 by defeating his nearest competitor Ram Sundhar Chaudhary of NC. Gupta is engaged in social service. He secured 41,322 votes against Chaudhary’s 9,774.
Santosh Rajbanshi, 34, won the election from Morang-4. Shiba Shankar Yadav, 30, from Siraha-2 won the election, representing the RSP while Tapeshwor Yadav from the same party emerged victorious from Siraha-4.
Another candidate under 35 winning HoR election is Deepak Kumar Shah, 34, from Mahottari-2. He represents the RSP. Ujjawal Kumar Jha, 33, from Mahottari -3 is another youth candidate winning the elections. He is from the RSP.
Sasmit Pokharel, 29, of the RSP elected from Kathmandu-5 holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law. He is the RSP central member and the assistant spokesperson. Pokharel has already worked as Chief Assistant at the Parliament Office. He gave leadership to ‘get the job done’ through policy-research, team mobilization and coordination.
RSP’s Prashant Upreti has been elected to HoR member from Makawanpur-2. Born in 2057 BS in Makawanpur, Upreti is a tourism entrepreneur and has done Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Management.
Similarly, another elected RSP candidate is Sagar Dhakal. The 34-year-old engineer Dhakal of Satyabati rural municipality-6 in Gulmi, won the election from Gulmi-1.
Elected from Pyuthan-1, Sushant Baidik, is under 35 year. Likewise, emerged as an alternative politician, Ranju Neupane (Darshana), 30, has been elected from Kathmandu-1. She has studied up to Bachelor’s Level.
Another elected lawmaker below 35 years is Som Sharma of RSP. Sharma, 34, won the election from Baglung-2 while RSP’s candidate Jhabi Lal Dumre, 30, has been elected from Syangja -2, and RSP’s Ramji Yadav, 30, won the election from Saptari-2.
Dumre won the election securing 25,354 votes while Yadav was elected HoR member with 28,4040 votes.
The 26-year-old KP Khanal of the RSP won the election from Kailali-2, receiving 19,057 votes. Active in social campaign for 13 years, he has led the nation-wide clean-up campaigns like ‘Clean Kasthamandap’ and ‘Kathmandu Trash Collection’.
Tapeshwor Yadav, was elected from Siraha-4 and Ujjwal Kumar Jha from Mahottari-3. Both of them are RSP candidates under 33-year. Similarly, the 32-year-old Yogesh Gauchan of Nepali Congress has made its journey to the HoR from Mustang-1 while Gyan Bahadur Shahi, 34, of Rastriya Prajatantra Party has been elected HoR member from Jumla-1.
Aren Rai, 29, of Shram Sanskriti Party won the election from Khotang-1.

17- HoR polls: NC’s Rai elected from Ilam-1
Fikkal, March 9: The Nepali Congress (NC) candidate has been elected from Ilam constituency-1 in the House of Representatives (HoR) election.
Party candidate Nishcal Rai secured 14,543 votes to win the election, while his nearest competitor, Binod Kumar Nembang of the Shram Sanskriti Party, garnered 13,632 votes.
The final election results were announced by the Election Officer’s Office at 4:30 pm today. This marks the first time in 26 years that the NC has won the HoR election from Ilam-1. CPN (UML) candidate Kajiman Kagate finished third with 11,966 votes, while the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) secured 7,665 votes.
A total of 13 candidates from 13 political parties contested the election in this constituency, with the remaining candidates failing to secure more than 1,000 votes each.
Out of 112,320 registered voters in the constituency, 64,104 cast their votes during the poll held on March 5.

18- Farewell to election police on Thursday
Kathmandu, March 9: The election police persons mobilized in the Kathmandu Valley for the March 5 election to the House of Representatives would be given farewell on Thursday.
Inspector General of the Nepal Police, Dan Bahadur Karki, told RSS that 3,854 election police persons were mobilized in Kathmandu, while 1,093 in Bhaktapur and 1,596 in Lalitpur for the election security.
He shared, “Security arrangements were made in coordination with Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and other security bodies in order to maintain peaceful environment in the Kathmandu Valley throughout election period.”
Karki observed the police persons deputed during election performed their duties with utmost responsibility.

19- RSP candidate Gurung elected from Gorkha- 1
Gorkha, March 9: A Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Sudhan Gurung has been elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) member from Gorkha-1.
According to Election Office Gorkha’s information officer Rabilal Subedi, the RSP candidate Gurung secured 29,896 votes, beating his nearest competitor Prem Kumar Khatri of Nepali Congress by 14,498 votes. Khatri secured 15,398 votes.
Similarly, Hari Raj Adhikari of Nepali Communist Party gained 11,124 votes and CPN (UML) candidate garnered 3,732.
