Kathmandu, March 10: The counting of votes cast under the proportional representation (PR) system for the House of Representatives (HoR) elections is underway.
As of 7:46 am today, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), which has so far won 125 seats, is also leading in the PR vote counts with a wide margin.
Out total 10,297,497 votes counted so far, the party has secured 4,951,964 votes.
Similarly, the Nepali Congress (NC) has achieved 1,674,940 while the CPN (UML) garnered 1,390,293 and the Nepali Communist Party got 753,082. The Shram Sanskriti Party has collected 348,159 and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party achieved 322,604 votes.
As per the EC updates, the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal secured 169,447 votes, the Rastriya Pariwartan Party 165,069 and the Janamat Party has achieved 75,486 votes.
Towards the direct electoral counts, the NC has been elected in 18 seats, UML in nine, NCP in eight, Shram Sanskriti in three, RPP and an independent candidate one each.

02- Yadav of NCP wins HoR seat from Dhanusha-1
Dhanusha, March 10: Matrika Prasad Yadav of Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has won the election to the House of Representatives (HoR) from Dhanusha constituency no. 1.
According to the Election Commission (EC), Yadav won the seat by securing 10,428 votes, while Yadav’s nearest rival Rampaltan Sah of Nepali Congress obtained 9,485 votes.
Ramchandra Mandal of CPN (UML) secured 9,220 votes in the HoR election held on March 5.
The result of Dhanusha-1 was announced on Monday after a meeting of the EC directed the Office of the Returning Officer for the same.
Earlier, the EC had scrapped the candidacy of Kishori Sah, the candidate of Rastriya Swatantra Party, for being on a blacklist.
The case is in the Supreme Court (SC) now. The SC on Monday directed the EC to appear on March 10 with the file regarding the cancellation of Sah’s candidacy.

02- Karki elected HoR Member from Sankhuwasabha
Sankhuwasabha, March 10: Dr Arjun Kumar Karki of CPN (UML) was declared the winner in the House of Representatives (HoR) election from Sankhuwasabha district.
As per the results announced last night, Karki won the HoR seat by getting 15,663 votes against his nearest rival Mingma Sherpa. Sherpa of Rastriya Swatantra Party bagged 15,000 votes in the election, according to the Office of the Returning Officer.
Of the total 119,630 voters in the district, 63,634 voters cast their votes in the March 5 HoR election.

04- HoR election: UML, NCP fail to register victory in Gandaki Province under direct system
Gandaki, March 10: As the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) registered its resounding victory under the first-past-the-post electoral system in Gandaki Province in the House of Representatives (HoR) election held on March 5, the CPN (UML) and Nepali Communist Party (NCP) candidates failed to win a single seat in entire constituencies from the province.
Out of the total 18 seats, the RSP candidates won the poll in 15 constituencies in the province. The RSP candidates won all seats in the province except in Myagdi, Mustang and Manang.
RSP candidates Khadak Raj Paudel (Ganesh) won the HoR seat from Kaski-1, Uttam Prasad Paudel in Kaski-2 and Bina Gurung in Kaski-3.
RSP candidates also won both HoR seats in Baglung district. Sushil Khadka and Som Sharma have been elected from Baglung-1 and Baglung-2, respectively.
Likewise, Dr Dhananjay Regmi and Jhabilal Dumre emerged victorious from two constituencies in Syangja district.
In Tanahun district, Dr Swarnim Wagle won the HoR seat from constituency-1 and Shreeram Neupane from constituency-2, according to the Election Commission.
RSP’s Rajan Gautam clinched victory from Nawalpur-1 and Manish Khanal from Nawalpur-2, while Dharmaraj KC of the same party won the poll from Lamjung.
Sagar Bhusal of the RSP made to the election from Parbat, while Sudan Gurung from Gorkha-1 and Kabindra Burlakoti from Gorkha-2 of RSP won the election to the HoR.
Nepali Congress won two seats from Manang and Mustang, and independent candidate Mahabir Pun emerged victorious in Myagdi district.
For NC, Yogesh Gauchan Thakali won from Mustang and Tek Bahadur Gurung from Manang district.
In the HoR election held in 2079, the CPN (UML) and the NCP had won five and two seats, respectively.
Likewise, the Nepali Congress (NC) is now downsized with two seats in the province under the direct electoral system, while the party’s candidates had won 10 seats in the HoR election in 2079.
The Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal lost its lone seat as compared to the last election.

05- RSP leads vote counts under PR system in Parsa
Parsa, March 10: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has emerged as the largest political party in Parsa district by getting the highest votes under the proportional representation system.
Under the first past-the-post electoral system, the party’s candidates won all four HoR seats from the district.
Chief Returning Officer Gayatri Prasad Regmi said that the RSP received 34,463 votes under the PR system in constituency no. 1, while Nepali Congress (NC) managed to get 8,267 votes and UML got 9,231 votes.
Likewise, the RSP secured 34,918 votes under the PR system out of a total 67,107 votes cast, the Office of the Chief Returning Officer said. From this constituency, NC got 10,340 votes and UML secured 8,585 votes.
Similarly, the RSP obtained 24,158 votes under the proportional electoral system from constituency no. 3. The UML secured 6,168 votes and the NC garnered 8,650 votes, while the Nepali Communist Party bagged 1,195 votes in Parsa district.
According to the Office, the RSP also led the vote counts under the PR system in constituency 4. The party garnered 30,389 votes while NC and UML collected 11,512 votes and 9,935 votes, respectively.

06- Khakhadehara festival being marked in Kailali, Kanchanpur
Kanchanpur, 10 March: The Rana Tharu community in Kailali and Kanchanpur districts is marking the Khakhadehara festival today.
The Khakhadehara festival is marked on the last day of the Holi festival. As per the tradition, the Rana Tharu observes the Holi festival for 8 days in the names of Jiyudo (alive) Holi, Mareko (dead) Holi and Khakhadehara.
On the occasion of this festival, the Sudurpaschim Province Government has announced a public holiday for today in the two districts.
