Kathmandu, March 17: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is running an orientation programmes for its newly-elected Members of Parliament (MPs). The two-day residential programme is beginning today in Lalitpur, the party stated.
RSP Spokesperson Manish Jha shared that parliamentary practices, policymaking, parliamentary businesses and the responsibilities of people’s representatives, party policies to be applied and other related matters would be shared to the MPs.
Earlier on Monday, the party’s General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti issued a six-point directive to the party lawmakers, asking them to attend the orientation programme.
The RSP won 182 seats under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) and proportional representation (PR) system in the House of Representatives (HoR) elections conducted on March 5.

01- 10,000 fingerlings released in Rupa lake
Lekhnath (Kaski), March 17: As high as 10,000 fingerlings of different species have been released in the Rupa lake.
The Rupatal Fishery Cooperative on its silvery jubilee ceremony released the fingerlings to promote income generation of the lake.
Chairman of the cooperative, Ram Bahadur Thapa, shared that the fingerlings were released to conserve natural heritages and ensure sustainable income of the cooperative.
Chief of Begnas Fishery Research Station Dr Mohammad Ikwal Hussein said that the fishery was advanced in the Rupa lake simultaneously without damaging the beauty of the lake and linking the local cooperative members for income generation.
He said that the lake should be handed over to the future generation without disfiguring its beauty since lakes are crucial for human civilization and the aquatic creatures.

03- Chances of light rain with thunder in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki provinces
Kathmandu, March 17: The weather is generally cloudy in the Himalayan and hilly regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, Sudurpaschim, Koshi and Bagmati province, while the other parts of the country are partly cloudy, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology stated.
The Weather Forecasting Division of the Department mentioned that light rain coupled with snowfall is happening in few Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces.
The weather will be generally cloudy over the Himalayan region of the country, while the hilly and Terai regions will be partly cloudy this afternoon.
There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and at one or two places in the remaining Himalayan regions. There is also a possibility of light rain with thunder and lightning at one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. As per its meteorological analysis, the Division shared that Nepal is under the influence of a westerly low-pressure system at present.

04- National Park provides relief to farmers affected by wild animals
Rasuwa, March 17: The Langtang National Park has provided relief assistance to the farmers affected by the wildlife of the national park.
According to the national park officials, the large scale of damage to the farmers was caused by the wild boar in the vicinity of the national park in Rasuwa district.
So far, 157 farmers have reported the losses to their farms by the wild animals.
According to Rupesh Lama, an official of the national park, 111 farmers were affected by wild boar, 34 by monkey, 11 by leopard and one by bear. For the damages in this fiscal year, the national park distributed nearly 1.5 million in cash assistance to the farmers, which the national park said is for the reduction of human-wildlife conflicts.
Lama shared that some farmers are left to receive the relief amount.
The national park is providing relief assistance to the farmers on the basis of Wildlife Damage Relief Distribution Guidelines, 2080 BS.
The local community people said that the northern part of the district is largely affected by bears and wild boars, while the monkey menace is higher in the southern belt.
Likewise, the national park provides relief to those left injured by the animals’ attacks. For those injured, the relief amount is given as per the medical costs paid for the government medical centers and hospitals.

05- Storm induced disasters kill two, injuring six others in Udayapur
Udayapur, March 17: Two persons were killed and six others were injured, as a heavy storm collapsed trees in different areas of Katari Municipality in the district of Udayapur on Monday evening.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police and Information Officer of District Police Office, Niranjan Thapa, said that Mina Maya Tamang, 49, of Katari Municipality-8 and Birendra Chaudhary, 64, of ward no. 5 of the same municipality died after being crushed by the trees that fell following the storm.
According to police, Kamala Kumari Pulamimagar, 20, deceased Birendra Chaudhary’s five-year-old granddaughter Binisha, 27-year-old Yubraj Karki, Prem Chandra Danuwar, Lil Bahadur Danuwar, 46, and 16-year-old Asmita Pariyar were injured in the disaster.
Lil Bahadur Danuwar and Kamala Kumari Pulamimagar were referred to a health facility in Biratnagar for further treatment while four others were discharged from the Katari Hospital on Monday itself.
Police shared that some houses in the hilly belt of Katari have witnessed slight damage from the storm.

06- EC to provide certificate to HoR-elect members under PR on Wednesday
Kathmandu, March 17: The Election Commission (EC) is to provide certificates to the winners of the House of Representatives (HoR) seats under the proportional representation (PR) system on Wednesday.
According to Krishna Bahadur Raut, the Election Officer of the PR electoral system, the winners of the HoR seat under the PR system will be given certificates at 11:30 am on Wednesday at the EC premises.
The name of 110 candidates elected under the PR system from the HoR election conducted on March 5 was released by the EC on Monday.
According to the EC, six different political parties have gained the status of national party by crossing a minimum threshold of three percent of the total valid votes.
Under the PR system, the Rastriya Swatantra Party has won 57 seats, Nepali Congress 20, CPN (UML) 16 and nine by the Nepali Communist Party. Likewise, Shram Sanskriti Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party won equal four seats under the PR system.
The election process of the HoR elections conducted on March 5 will be completed after providing certificates to the winning candidates.
