Kathmandu, April 2: The 20th session of the National Assembly (NA), the upper house of the Federal Parliament, has convened here today.
On the occasion of the inaugural of the session, NA Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal stated that the NA has been successful in establishing its image as a mature, tolerant and coordinating House and expressed the confidence to keep this in coming days. He noted that the role of the parliament is ever responsible in the context of the formation of the one-party government in Nepal.
Informing that the preparation is underway to run orientation programme for newly-elected members of the upper house, he believed it would further improve the parliamentary practice. In today’s meeting, Chairperson Dahal had read out the letter received from President Ramchandra Paudel regarding summoning of the session.
Today’s meeting of the NA is scheduled to set the date for the election of vacant Vice Chairperson and Presidents of thematic committees of the NA. —
