Kathmandu, April 2: The lawmakers from the CPN (UML) have drawn the government’s attention through the parliament in the first session of the House of Representatives (HoR) today.

The HoR, the lower house of the Federal Parliament is meeting today for the first time after the House of Representatives Member election held on March 5.

The UML MPs, speaking in the meeting that commenced at the under-construction multi-purpose hall of the Federal Parliament Building in Singha Durbar, called attention of the government in protest over the arrest of former Prime Minister and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister and Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak. At the outset of the meeting, UML MP Guru Prasad Baral drew the attention of the House to the matter of the arrest.

UML Chair Oli and leader Lekhak were arrested on March 28 according to the decision of the Government of Nepal.

After the UML MPs stood up from their seats, senior-most MP Arjun Narasingh KC, who was presiding over the meeting, requested the MPs of that party to be seated without creating any controversy in the very first meeting of the new HoR. —
