Published Date : April 17, 2026

Kathmandu (Nepal), April 17: The CPN (UML) has decided to postpone its previously announced programmes. Instead, it will organize various creative events to mark its establishment day on April 22.

A meeting of the party held on Friday under the chairmanship of General Secretary Shankar Pokharel took this decision. As per the meeting’s decisions, the party’s district committees have been mandated to organise creative programmes on April 22.

According to the party’s central office secretary, Dr Bhishma Adhikari, in the case of the Kathmandu Valley, the event will be held at 2:00 pm at the party’s central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur on the same day.

The meeting also decided to suspend its previously announced protest programmes scheduled for April 20 and April 25 in view of the arrest of party Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The decision follows the Supreme Court’s order on April 9 to release Oli on bail. —-
