Kathmandu, May 31: In the ongoing meeting of the National Assembly, lawmakers voiced concern over deepening crisis of drinking water in southern plains, Tarai.
In the wake of increasing dryness, Madhes Province has faced acute shortage of water, Urmila Aryal said, underscoring the urgency of actions to address the problems.
Goma Devi Timalsena worried that budget presented by Finance Minister on Friday failed to allocate well on operation of industries.
Durga Gurung drew government’s attention towards electricity problems in Karnali Province. The government needs to furnish responses to lawmakers’ queries, according to Nar Bahadur Bista.
Bhuwan Bahadur Sunuwar said, “The Dalit activists including Dipa Nepali were in agitation against caste discrimination, showing placard ‘Is a room in rent?'” He demanded the government that it addressed their demands.
“How long the people are forced to suffer price hikes,” Yubraj Sharma wondered, urging government to take immediate measures to curb price hikes.
Other lawmakers Narayan Datt Mishra and Uday Bahadur Bohara also expressed their views. —–
