UML’s objection to Prime Minister’s statement

Published Date : June 1, 2026

Kathmandu, June 1: The opposition party CPN (UML) has formally objected to Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s recent statement made in the House of Representatives (HoR) on Sunday.

Party General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel issued a statement asserting that the Prime Minister’s remarks contradict historical facts, evidence, and Nepal’s established national positions. The UML emphasizes that issues related to land, borders, and national independence are of collective concern for all Nepali citizens.

The party argues that the Prime Minister’s views could undermine national unity and weaken Nepal’s diplomatic claims.

The UML’s objection is related to certain issues raised by Prime Minister Balendra Shah while responding to lawmakers’ queries in the House of Representatives on Sunday in which he had stated that Nepal has encroached the border into India. —
