Dengue fever spread in Terai area of Udayapur

Gaighat, Aug 19 : Dengue, a vector-borne viral infection, has spread in Terai area of Udayapur district during the past couple of weeks.

            Dengue outbreak is visible in Belka Chaudandigadhi and Triyuga municipality in the eastern part of Udayapur while the viral is spreading in Katari in the west.

            According to the District Health Office, Udayapur, the most dengue prone area in the district is Katari followed by Gaighat of Triyuga municipality, Beltar Basaha of Chaudandi and Rampur Thksila area of Belka.

            One and half months ago, only two people were found infected from dengue virus in Katari and one in Beltar of BP Chowk. It was gradually breaking out in other areas of Katari, Triyuga, Chaudandi and Belka area.

Number of dengue-infected people now has reached 18 in the area, shared Ramesh Khakurel, chief of District Public Health Office, Udayapur.            

The bite of female mosquitoes named Aedes aegypt causes dengue fever.
