New mother airlifted to safety in Baitadi

Baitadi, Oct 29 : A new mother from Lekam in Sigas Rural Municipality-6 in Baitadi district suffering excessive bleeding has been airlifted to Kohalpur Medical College in Banke district for prompt medical response today.

The 23-year-old Dhana Saud had given birth to her baby in a birthing centre at Lekham. As she started bleeding excessively, she was flown to the advance health facility in the Nepal Army’s helicopter, shared the Chief District Officer, Anand Poudel.

Saud was rescued as per the President Women Upliftment Programme wherein the government rescues and provides free treatment to pregnant and postnatal women in remote areas who are at risk during their pregnancy and birth-related conditions.

ANM Parbati Bohora who accompanied ailing new mother in helicopter and in hospital said that Saud was now out of danger.
