Kathmandu, Nov 26: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has viewed that political interventions would increase at universities with a system appointing political figures as Chancellor.
In her address to the senate of the Tribhuvan University here today, Prime Minister Karki stressed the need to close the door for unnecessary politicking by abolishing the system of having the Prime Minister as Chancellor in the universities.
“It was delayed to pass the annual policy and programme of the universities which is not a good practice. Universities should be made free of politics,” she opined.
The Prime Minister laid emphasis that universities should be self-sufficient not only academically and administratively, but also on financial front.
Similarly, Minister for Education, Science and Technology and Pro-Chancellor of the TU MahabirPun shared that discussion was underway with experts regarding withdrawal of the provision having the Prime Minister as the chancellor of the universities through ordinance or other legal arrangements.
The senate decided to restructure the academic and administrative aspects of the University in its policy and programme of the fiscal year 2082/83.The TU senate was called today to amend some laws including adoption of stalled policies and programmes.

19- NPL 2025: Chitwan Rhinos sets 175-run target
Kathmandu, Nov 26: The Chitwan Rhinos has set a target of 175-run for Biratnagar Kings in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) match today.
Put to bat first after losing the toss at the Tribhuvan International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, Chitwan posted 174 runs for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Ravi Bopara scored a half-century with 65 runs, Saif Ali Zaib made 32, Dev Khanal scored 28, and captain Kushal Malla contributed an unbeaten 20 runs.Biratnagar captain Sandeep Lamichhane took two wickets, Merchant de Lange took two, and Shubham Ranjane took one wicket.Biratnagar, led by Lamichhane, is in second place on the table with wins in their last three consecutive matches.
Chitwan, under the leadership of Kushal Malla, is fourth on the table with two points from two matches. Chitwan has so far registered one win and one loss in previous matches.

20- UML general convention secretariat meeting: report of different committees discussed
Kathmandu, Nov 26: Discussion has been held on the report of committees formed to hold the 11th national convention of the CPN (UML).
During the meeting of the general convention secretariat held at the Chaysal-based UML Party Office on Wednesday, discussion was held on the report prepared in the context of preparation made for the general convention so far, said Chief of UML Publicity Department, Rajendra Gautam.
All the committees have reached the final stage of preparation for the general convention, he added. The UML had formed 11 different committees to hold the general convention.
Gautam added that the meeting has decided to organise opening ceremony of the general convention at Sallaghari ground, Bhaktapur. Similarly, the closed session would be organised at Bhrikutimandap.
Similarly, a decision was taken to make ‘The determination to build decisive national: Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepal is our destination’ as the main slogan of the general convention, which was determined by second statute convention.
The UML’s 11th general convention is taking place from December 13-15 in Kathmandu.

21- NPL 2025: Chitwan ends Biratnagar’s winning streak
Kathmandu, Nov 26: Biratnagar Kings’ three match winning streak has come to an end, with a loss against Chitwan Rhinos in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) 2025 today.
In the day-night match played at the TU International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, Biratnagar lost to Chitwan by 48 runs. Chasing a target of 175 runs to win, Biratnagar was bowled out for 126 runs in 16.5 overs.
Merchant de Lange top-scored with 39 runs while Pratish GC scored 30 runs for Biratnagar.
For the bowling side, Ranjit Kumar took 5 wickets while Kamal Singh Airee took 2 wickets.
Earlier, put into bat first, Chitwan scored 174 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Ravi Bopara hit a half-century (65) while Saif Zaib scored 32 and Dev Khanal contributed 28 runs. Captain Kushal Malla remained not out with 20 runs.
Biratnagar captain Sandeep Lamichhane and Merchant de Lange took 2 wickets each while Shubham Ranjane took 1 wicket.

22- Political parties’ registration extended by four more days
Kathmandu, Nov 26: The Election Commission has decided to extend the time for political parties to register for the March 5 election to the House of Representatives. The deadline that was supposed to expire today has been ended by four days.
The decision was made at the request of various political parties, said the Commission’s spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai.
In the latest deadline starting November 17 to 26, applications have been received from 106 parties. The Commission has stated that the number of parties registered with the Commission so far is 137.

23 – Assembly of general convention in favour of special convention held
Kathmandu, Nov 26: A special assembly of the representatives of general convention of the Nepali Congress, who are in favour of special general convention, was held here on Wednesday.
During the assembly organised at the City Hall, Exhibition Road, 54 per cent general convention representatives involved in signature campaign had participated in the assembly, demanding special general convention.
Addressing the assembly, NC leader Omkar Shrestha said, “There is no alternative to general convention in present condition.”
Similarly, another leader Gururaj Ghimire shared that those, who have been using power since decades, have no rights to say the signatures of party warriors are fake, warning them to find out the fake signatures.
Fifty-four per cent general convention representatives of the NC had registered an application with the signatures at the party headquarters on October 15 demanding a special general convention.

24- Need of environment friendly skills stressed
Kathmandu, Nov 26: Stakeholders have emphasized on the need of environment-friendly skills in Nepal.
At a programme organized here today for official opening of the Green Skills Advisory Board (GESAB), speakers stressed the need to connect the Technical Education and Vocational Training (TEVT) system with green skills calling for collaboration between the public and private sector actors to motivate sustainable employment and development.
The Board aims to take concrete initiatives to enhance public sensitization on green skills, promote dialogue for environment-friendly policy formulation, and foster capacity building and employment opportunities.
With a plan to promote sustainable agriculture, push environment-friendly construction and incentivize green skills in the sectors like tourism, the Board was established.
In the opening ceremony, Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Chudamani Paudel said education has to be linked with skills and skills with production taking into consideration the increasing temperature and its subsequent impacts. “The Government of Nepal has been working for the policy reforms in this sector. The project, initiated in collaboration between the government and private sector, has to be taken ahead in tandem”, he noted.
Chairperson of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Chandra Prasad Dhakal also echoed the need of devising noble thinking, new skills and improved practice to address the global climate change, carbon emission and environmental degradation.
Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Nepal Rob Fenn said the initiative would contribute to Nepal’s target to attain the goal of ‘net zero carbon’ by 2045 AD. He also pledged to extend cooperation to that end from his side.
Also speaking on the occasion, member-secretary of the CTEVT Engineer Mahesh Bhattarai said the Board would provide support to forge partnership to address the demand of green skills and contribute to the national goal of attaining carbon neutrality.
Likewise, Chairperson of Confederation of Nepalese Industries Birendra Raj Pandey expressed his institutional commitment to develop, promote and execute environment-friendly skills.
Chairperson of the Nepal Federation of Contactors Rabi Singh said that development should not be affected in the name of green though environment protection and green skills is the need of the hour.
On the occasion, GESAB’s founder Pramod Bhakta Acharya had delivered a presentation on the efforts Nepal has been making on various aspects of green skills.

25- NC CWC meeting scheduled for Friday
Patan (Lalitpur), Nov 26: A meeting of the Nepali Congress central working committee is scheduled for coming Friday (November 28).
The meeting called for November 27 at party headquarters, Sanepa, was postponed till Friday, said NC Party Office Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel.
Office-bearers of central working committee, members, invitee members and presidents of province working committee have been requested for their presence in the meeting, he added.

26- Tri-Nation International Women’s Football: Indonesia defeats Nepal
Indonesia, Nov 26: Nepal has lost to Indonesia in an international friendly women’s football match held at the Maguwoharjo Stadium in Yogyakarta, Indonesia earlier today. Coming from behind, Indonesia defeated the visitors by 2 goals to 1.
Nepal was leading by 1-0 in the 20th minute of first half of the match. Nepal got the lead through an own goal by an Indonesian player. Indonesian defender BV Oktavi Riski tried to clear the ball but ended up landing it in her own net.
However, Indonesia came back strongly and scored two second-half goals to seal the win. In the 58th minute of the match, Indonesian captain Gia Yumanda scored to level the score at 1-1. Then, in the 67th minute, Auliya Arifa scored to make it 2-1, which stood until the end and gave the hosts a victory.
Nepal will now compete against Chinese Taipei on December 2. The matches are being played under the FIFA Tier-1 Tri-Nation International Women’s Football Tournament. The tournament is taking place from November 26 to December 2 and also includes Chinese Taipei.
