Kathmandu, June 27: Currently there is the partial to general influence of monsoon winds across the country. Currently, some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces are receiving partial rainfall, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.
The Division stated that there will be partial to generally cloudy weather in the hilly regions of the country during the day. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some places in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as a few places in other regions.
Likewise, in one or two places of the hilly areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces and the one or two hilly places in Koshi and Bagmati provinces are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall.
The weather is likely to remain generally cloudy throughout the country tonight. It is said that extremely heavy rain is likely in some places of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces tonight. The Division has predicted light to moderate rainfall in a few places of the high hilly and Himalayan region.
There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning in some places in the hilly areas of the country, including Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, and a few places in the remaining provinces.

Kathmandu, June 27: The 9th NewBiz Conclave and Business Excellence Awards programme was held in Kathmandu by presenting honours to different nine companies and a senior businessperson.
Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari and Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission Prof Dr Shiva Raj Adhikari also attended the event organized in Kathmandu on Thursday.

Muktinath Bikas Bank was awarded as the Best Managed Development Bank of the Year and Shree Investment and Finance Company was picked as the Best Managed Finance Company of the Year.
Sagarmatha Lumbini General Insurance Company was named as the Best Managed General Insurance Company of the Year and National Life Insurance Company was named as the Best Managed Life Insurance Company of the Year.
According to the organizers, the companies and individual honoured were selected by different independent juries comprised of experts.

Death toll reaches 72 in human-elephant conflicts in 15 yrs in Jhapa
Jhapa, June 27: A total of 72 people including seven foreigners died in Jhapa district from elephant attacks in the past 15 years.
Dr Suman Bhul of Division Forest Office, Jhapa, said that 92 people sustained injuries from the elephant attacks.
Likewise, five people succumbed to injuries from the elephant attacks in the last one year and six others were injured.
As per the records of the past 15 years, five people have lost their lives in a year on an average in the conflicts with the elephants.
E-fencing, development of ponds, planting of fruit saplings and other activities are being undertaken in the district to reduce the human-elephant conflicts.
However, Dr Lilanath Sharma of Forest Action Nepal said that human-elephant conflicts would not be reduced only from the e-fencing. “There should be reforms in the forest itself,” he added.
Likewise, a total of 25 elephants were found dead in Jhapa district since 2006 and the number of elephant casualties is on the rise in the recent time.
The Division Forest Office said that four elephants died to date in the current fiscal year while equal four elephants had died in the previous fiscal year due to animal-elephant conflicts.
The government has provided more than Rs 96.8 million in relief to the victims suffered from elephant menace. The families of those killed by elephants are getting Rs 1 million and the injured ones get up to Rs 200,000, according to Dr Bhul.

Simkot will be connected to national road network in some days, PM says
Kathmandu, June 27: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that the district headquarters of Humla will be connected to the national road network in some days.
In a Facebook post today, PM Oli shared that Simkot will be linked to the national road network in some days adding that the long wait for 26 years for road network is being fulfilled soon.
Similarly, PM Oli has argued that Humla is not a remote district now, thanks to the road connectivity there.
“The district headquarters of Humla, the only district remained to be linked to the national road network, is being connected to the national road network in some days. Our decades-long dream to ensure road network to the Humla district headquarters of Simkot is being fulfilled. With the construction of this road, Nepal will be linked to neighbouring country China via Hilsa point,” the PM stated.

Vehicles carrying LP Gas collides with truck
Chitwan, June 27: A vehicle carrying LP Gas from India collided with a truck at Tikauli in Chitwan district along the East-West Highway injuring two people.
Driver of the LP Gas carrier Jagdev Yadav, 45, from Bihar in India and truck helper Prabin Praja, 24, of Rapti Municipality-2 in Chitwan district were injured in the accident.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rabindra Khanal said that the LP Gas carrier with Indian number plate NL-01 N 0133 on its way to Bharatpur and the truck (Ba Pra 03-001 Kha 3419) collided head on.
Truck helper Praja and Yadav are receiving treatment in two separate medical colleges in Bharatpur.
