Siraha, Dec 26: A memorandum has been submitted to Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal, demanding upgradation of Chhoti customs office located at Bariyarpatti rural municipality-3 in Siraha district.
At a programme organised to hand over the land of Lahan-based Ram Kumar Sharada Uma Prasad Murarka Provincial Hospital on Thursday, locals, people’s representatives and Gen Z youths submitted the memo to Finance Minister Khanal to upgrade the customs office.
Shiba Yadav and Santosh Yadav from the side of Gen Z youths handed over the memo to the Finance Minister. Submitting the memo, Santosh Yadav shared, “The youths here have been taking initiatives for upgradation of Bariyarpatti customs since a long time. We hope that this customs will be upgraded soon. The citizens and businesspersons here will be benefitted after the operation of four-wheelers.”
The memo demands not to close the customs office, to upgrade it by constructing necessary physical infrastructures and to take immediate initiative to make arrangement of operation of four-wheelers.

Finance Minister Khanal and Madhes Province Chief Minister Yadav meet
Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal engaged in discussions with Madhes Province Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav.
In the meeting held at Madhes Bhawan in Janakpurdham, Chief Minister Yadav urged Finance Minister Khanal to enhance the federal government’s grant allocation to Madhes Province.
He pointed out that the increase in grant funding is necessary due to the poor human development indicators in the region. During the meeting, Finance Minister Khanal was informed that the federal government had failed to deliver the financial support it had committed for the MBBS programme operated by the Madhes Academy of Health Sciences.
The MBBS programme has been facing an annual cost of 200 million rupees. Finance Minister Khanal assured that the federal government is committed to addressing the province government’s issues related to economic growth and the overall prosperity of Madhes Province.
