Landslide blocks Saljhandi-Dhorpatan Road, passengers stranded

Published Date : July 11, 2026

Dhorpatan (Bagalung), July 11: The Saljhandi-Dhorpatan road, a national pride project, has been completely blocked due to a landslide.

This incident occurred on Saturday morning in Dhorpatan municipality-9 Falleghar, affecting the Burtibang-Dhorpatan road section. Tourists visiting Dhorpatan, Nepal’s only hunting reserve, are now stranded because of the road blockage.

Those who arrived in Dhorpatan on Friday evening are unable to return, while others who were on holiday are stuck in Falleghar. Deputy Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Twati reported that efforts are underway to clear the road.

“The road has been blocked since morning and remains impassable. Passengers traveling to and from Dhorpatan are experiencing trouble, even though we are working to reopen the road,” Twati explained.

He also advised tourists planning to visit Dhorpatan to check the weather and road conditions before making the trip, especially since there’s a surge of visitors heading to the area right now. —-
