Sudurpaschim Province wants to complete pride projects next fiscal year

Sudurpaschim, June 2: Sudurpaschim Province government has adopted a policy to focus on completion of provincial pride projects by allocating budgets on the basis of project prioritization procedure and project bank. It will also make project selection and prioritization result-oriented.

The policies and programmes Province Chief Najir Minya presented in the Province Assembly on Monday for the fiscal year, 2026/27 underscored sectoral projects by taking into account the achievements of the first 5-year plan of the province, goal and priorities set by the second 5-year plan and current periodic plan of the federal government. The budget will strike balances on these aspects.

The province government has unveiled a policy to allocate budget and extend facilitation, coordination and regulation for completion of the provincial pride projects in the upcoming year. Except drinking water projects, the government is not for allocating less than Rs 2.5 million budget to the development activities. If the sub-national government wants to conduct any activity requiring less than Rs 2.5 million, it could be forwarded by the local government through fiscal transfer.

Frugality, transparency and effectiveness in public spending, curtailment of unproductive schemes, strict fiscal discipline, clearance of arrears and auditing are given top priorities by the province government.

The sub-national government is launching skill development drive through ‘Province Chief Startup Programme’. Investment friendly atmosphere would be created to reinforce provincial economy; province roads prioritized and upgraded under province road network perspective and access road for agricultural economy constructed.

The government has also stressed public-private partnership for creating investment friendly atmosphere, thereby propping up province economy.

Enforcement of integrated agriculture irrigation project, continuation of citizen housing programmes, creation of jobs and entrepreneurship and Chief Minister small industries programme, Dasharath Chand skill based training and capacity building, and Dwarikadevi Thakurani women entrepreneurship programme are others in the list.

The ‘Tourism Infrastructure: Basis of a Prosperous Province’ is another programme intended to expand tourism activities in the region. The province will be developed as an attractive and safe tourism destination by ensuring necessary infrastructures like a trekking route from Api-Surma to Rama Roshan via -Saipal-Khaptad-Rani Sain-Badimalika.

The government has mentioned forest as the wealth of province. The ‘Chief Minister Health Sector Improvement Programme’ is aimed at launching healthcare, especially on prevention of sickle cell anemia.

Development of sports, honour to medal-winning players, modernization, and commercialization of agriculture and youth entrepreneurship are other features in the policies and programmes. Even the farmer identification programmes will be introduced in the province.
