Nepalgunj, Dec. 27: A grand mushaira (poetry symposium) titled “Shehr-e-Sukhan” was held in Nepalgunj organised by Bazm-e-Urdu Nepal.
According to the President of Bazm-e-Urdu Nepal, Sarwar Nepali, the programme was organised in honour of the renowned senior Urdu poet Shehr Mahmood, a resident of Kapilvastu and President of Urdu Foundation Nepal.
He informed that the mushaira was held under the chief guestship of Islamic scholar Siraj Ahmad, where poets and writers recited their literary creations in various languages. The programme featured poetry recitations by young poet Dr. Noor Mohammad Ansari, Urdu linguist Dr. Zainul Abedin, senior litterateur Professor Dr. Hari Timilsina, Central President of Bheri Sahitya Samaj Indra Bahadur Basnet, central member Chandawati Adhikari, President of Lumbini Literary Academy Bharat Bahadur Ranabhat, and Vice-President of Bazm-e-Urdu Nepal Syed Jahangir Salahuddin, who presented their ghazals and poems.
On the same occasion, chief guest poet Shehr Mahmood, Abdul Latif Shauq, and Syed Nepali mesmerised the audience by reciting Urdu ghazals.
The programme was attended by Ward Chair of Nepalgunj-4 Gopal Pun, ward members Uttam Singh Sijapati, Rumita Shrestha, Revati Damai, and Mohammad Salim Musalman, along with Urdu literature enthusiasts Jameel Ahmad Jargar, Athar Hussain Farooqi, Badruddin Ansari, and Mohammad Rais Halwai, among others.
